Mckenna Burt, Emily Melissas and Sophia Purcell will be going door-to-door until Dec. 11 dressed in Santa hats and aprons singing a carol in exchange for donations of non-perishable food items, toiletries and gently used clothing for the shelter. For 32 years, Blue Door Shelters has been an integral part of our community, providing emergency shelter for the homeless of York Region. As a non-profit organization serving some 1,500 people each year, comprising families, men and youth, the agency reaches out to the community for donations and other assistance. Frontline York Region social service workers were recognized for their dedicated efforts at the second annual Bhayana Family Foundation Awards in Vaughan Friday. Three outstanding individuals and one team from United Way York Region partner agencies were honoured at Vaughan City Hall.
